How is my Spelman Art printed?

We're obsessed with printing.  We print each artwork individually, in-studio on our Epson 12 Pigment Ink system (as opposed to most industry printers that have 5 or 6 inks) which is unrivaled in quality, vibrance and longevity (100 years +).  Because our works are so colorful, we utilize archival luster papers that capture the vibrant intensity of each artwork. We've invested heavily in the best hardware and software so you can be assured your print is collectible and archival, museum quality.  

How large can you frame my Spelman Art?

Online framing is only available for prints measuring 28" X 42" or 30" x 30" (square format) or less. For larger prints we're happy to create a custom quote. Please request a large artwork quote using the contact form.  Larger prints must ship with specified freight haulers which requires a quote and is much more costly. Also, shipping damage rates are much higher for framed artwork over 28"x42". We're happy to ship large, unframed artwork directly to your framer or if you want us to provide a quote for a framed grand format print (larger than 28"x42") please use the contact form.

 

How do you mount my Spelman Art and what frames do you use? 

Our white or black frames are solid hard wood and made to order. We use archival mounting boards and mounting adhesives to ensure collectible, museum quality artworks. Your artwork is printed with a 2" to 3" border so no extra board matting is required in order to create depth when framed.

How is my artwork protected? Why don't you use glass or plexiglass?  

Each print is spray protected using the industry's top quality UV protection coating.  Since we use scratch resistant, archival papers along with this protective coating, no glass or plexiglass is required for non-commercial or resident spaces.  Also, glass and plexi add a considerable cost, packaging cost configurations and shipping weights and cost.  However, we're happy to create a custom quote using the contact form for commercial spaces or if you desire your framed artwork to use plexiglass (we don't use glass at all at this time).

When will my Spelman Art arrive?

UNFRAMED artwork ships within 7-10 business days so depending on your address you can expect your art to arrive within 9-12 business days.

FRAMED artwork ships within 14 business days (each work is printed, signed, mounted and framed by us in our studio individually just for you...like a really, really great meal or wine, this just takes time, attention to detail and care.)  So depending on where you live you can expect your framed artwork to arrive in 16-18 business days.
